There was a point in my life where I had a self-realisation that no matter how much I did it would never be enough. This wasn't something placed on me by others, but by myself. When I started to learn Astrology and discovered I had two planets in Virgo, the sign of perfectionism, I began to understand where this "never enough" came from. Seeing this in my birth chart along with the realisation that came through my own life-coaching journey, that I was in fact doing this to myself so therefore I could undo it to myself, gave me the ability to become kinder to myself, to recognise when I was getting into the perfectionist pattern and beating myself with the stick of "not good enough". Awareness is key!

Virgo season brings with it an energy of organising, building skills, practicing, getting your ducks in a row. Virgo is the harvester or the maiden and sorts the wheat from the chaff, sorting what is useful from that which is not. This is where the analysis comes in, looking into the detail of things, finding how things work and making things more efficient. These traits make Virgo an amazing problem-solver with an innate ability to see what others do not. The ability to find faults can lead to missing the beauty if not careful, the perfection in the imperfection. If we procrastinate due to wanting things to be perfect we are denying ourselves the gift of service, and others the gift of receiving what we are bringing.

This critical eye is a highly beneficial skill in many life situations, but when it is turned inward and becomes self-criticism and a stick to beat oneself with, as I experienced, it is not so healthy. As with many things in life, balance is key. This is why one of the life lessons of Virgo is that of discernment, knowing when enough is actually enough. Learning when to recognise that the energy investment is no longer reaping rewards.

Virgo loves to serve, to nourish, and to help, this can sometimes be done to their detriment. They serve in a humble way and do so for the pure love of it, again knowing when to stop is a key lesson. Virgo is concerned with the physical body mainly because they don't like being ill. This fiercely independent zodiac sign dislikes being reliant on others, therefore being ill is out of the question.

Virgo realises the importance of the day-to-day, the routine, the practice, the crafting that leads to results. Virgo season reminds us that we can choose to see life as a ritual, the things that we do and how we do them in our everyday lives becomes the back-bone of our life. The love and care, or not, you bring to the daily things is woven into the structure of your life.

Virgo doesn't do emotion easily. Emotions are messy and Virgo isn't that keen on messy. A trait I have recognised in myself is a tendency to over-analyse my emotions in a bid to "fix" them, rather than just allowing myself to experience them. This has led to a backlog of unexpressed emotion .... even more messy when they eventually come out!

I invite you to reflect on the following over this Virgo season. Where do you need to get more organised? Where is your energetic investment no longer reaping rewards? Where are you not walking away from an unfixable situation? Are your daily routines providing the structure you want your life to be? Where are you viewing your day-to-day as a chore, and how can you view it differently?

With soul,

Paula
