What's beneath the surface? Scorpio is often known as having a sting in its tail, and while this may be true there is much more to this mysterious sign of the zodiac than what can be seen on the surface. In fact I’d liken it to an iceberg, most of what is there cannot be seen.

I have a number of planets in Scorpio, so resonate strongly with its deeply emotional secretive energy. Venus is one of these planets and when I love (both intimately and in friendships) I am all in, deeply and wholly. But if my love is betrayed there is no going back, no forgiveness, I will find it very hard to trust you again if I ever fully do.

Not afraid to get messy. Scorpio brings the energy of the researcher, the investigator, getting into the depth of things to uncover the real truth. The water element of Scorpio coupled with this depth brings a very naturally intuitive nature that susses out people and their emotions easily. Because of Scorpio's ability to see beyond what is being said there can be a tendency to view with suspicion if things don’t quite add up for them. These intense feelings can quite often be turned on themselves, Scorpio can be really self-critical.

Scorpio's traditional ruler is Mars so it certainly has fight, action and motivation, but Scorpio's warrior is more covert, more strategic and cunning. Because of their secretive and protective nature Scorpio might not display much emotion, but they feel a lot, I would say that of all the signs they feel the most deeply and intensely. When in a more unhealthy energy, if Scorpio perceives a threat or is feeling vulnerable, it is likely that their sting will be unleashed.

Scorpio can be a master manipulator in order to get what they want. If they decide to exercise it they have incredible power, as with everything this can be used in both good and not so good ways. This power can bring an amazing strength, particularly in self-mastery, coupled with them willing to get messy, and being naturally reflective, it's no surprise that this sign is known as the sign of transformation.

Scorpio can be extremely loyal and their controlling nature can be very nurturing to others when it comes from a place of love rather than manipulation. Inspiring others to stand strong, to be in their power and take no bullshit!

In the northern hemisphere Scorpio season coincides with the transition into the winter months, the time when you really begin to feel the shift in seasons. A time to go within, to bring your energy back to you, to get reflective and figure out what you want to transmute, shed, and to alchemise into something new. I find Scorpio season a good time to notice what needs to die away, what needs to be let go of in order to nourish and nurture myself over winter.

As we move through Scorpio season I invite you to take a look below your surface. What is lurking there that is keeping you stuck? What past grievances are you holding onto? Where do you need to forgive yourself? What are you alchemising? Get reflective and see what gems come to the surface.

With heart,

Paula
