When thinking about Pisces I think of two particular friends I have. At first you would think of them as very different people, but when considered on a deeper level one thing that they both bring to the world is an undercurrent of deep compassion, being able to see beyond the person, they can see beyond what is in front of them.
Pisces is the last sign in the wheel of the zodiac, bringing the astrological year to a close. In the northern hemisphere Pisces season marks the end of winter and the move into Spring and new beginnings. For this reason Pisces can be seen as the onset of the coming year, the in-between of the old and the new.
In my opinion this sums up the energy of Pisces quite well, the in-between. In-between worlds, not quite here, not quite there. It can be dreamy and imaginative, intuitive and idealistic. When thinking about the time of year that the Sun is in Pisces (generally mid-February to mid-March) it is a time of year that I like to imagine and dream what the year ahead could look like.
Someone who has a lot of Pisces energy may find themselves easily able to transcend to other worlds, realms beyond this material world, perhaps through meditation or even just their own imagination. Because of this Pisces has a reputation for not being very practical, or for living in a bit of a dream world. It’s not that they can’t cope with the reality of this world, but that they would simply rather not, and much prefer to be in the idealistic dreamy world that they imagine, and why not, wouldn’t you?
People who have a strong Pisces energy can be THE most compassionate people. Wanting to understand, accept and embrace rather than judge, they are very open minded individuals. They realise that there are no boundaries between people, we are all one, whether a millionaire or a beggar we are one and the same, interdependent parts of the same Universe. Pisces energy sees no boundaries, often struggling to discern when to stop giving, leading them to sacrifice themselves and ending up feeling put upon and used, in some situations and with some people this can lead to a victim mentality.
Pisces can be non-comital, elusive, hard to pin down or define, for me personally I find this quite intriguing, I find the mysteriousness a bit cheeky and playful. They are very good at merging and blending, they are empathetic, mysterious and can be very sensitive. This could be considered both a blessing and a curse. They can use this trait to mould and blend to what is needed or required in the moment, and can also be passively manipulative in order to get them what they want or need. On the flip side this trait can work against them when they merge too much with others, relinquishing control blindly, giving their power away and becoming under-responsible for their lives.
Control may be a bit of an issue with Pisces. Because they can find themselves pulled by their emotions and feelings of guilt they can be scared of giving up control. This can play out through them needing to control all aspects of their life, this can be them reclaiming their power. Even if they do not have the language for it they may find that like a sponge they absorb feelings and impressions from the environment and the people around them. This can be quite overwhelming and in an attempt to build boundaries can lead to escapist tendencies. If only the ability to relinquish control was realised they may find the tides of life much easier to flow with.
The strengths of Pisces can be seen in their compassion and empathy, in their ability to know that the truth is rarely what is presented in front of them. I invite you to reflect on some of the traits mentioned above. Where are you struggling with boundaries? What are you trying to control or manipulate? Is there somewhere in your life where you can dream bigger, look beyond what is in front of you, and then some?
With soul,
Paula
