I’ve been a little nervous about writing about Aquarius, it’s one of the signs that I often struggle to understand and therefore explain or write about. I have found that I can experience the Aquarian energy as a bit contradictory, logical yet intuitive, rebellious yet conformist, bringer of innovation yet being a bit stuck. It can be seen as a little chaotic but as a fellow air sign I can relate to this.

Aquarius is interested in people, it has a curiosity towards others and in social situations is warm, open and friendly. Aquarius can also be seen as cold and detached but this is more likely to be due to their ability to be objective and see multiple perspectives. Concerned with being authentic, as a friend they may not tell you what you want to hear but it will be truthful and honest.

They can often be seen as the freedom fighters, the rebels, but sometimes they don’t have a cause, they can fall into the trap of rebelling for rebelling sake. This comes from a good place, from a beautiful intention to help the world, to make it a better place, to help humanity evolve and progress and to set the people free. Aquarius wants equality for all, believing that no one is special yet everyone is special.

There is often a deep felt desire to be of service and to be an example to others, making them amazingly motivating and inspiring leaders. Often trailblazing the way for new innovative projects or heading up social activism causes.

Aquarius can have a tendency to be altruistic, sometimes to their own detriment, giving all of themselves to the causes they believe in and are passionate about. This can lead to them becoming stuck when everyone else has moved on. Aquarius often crave control, routine and stability and have perfectionist tendencies, which can be conflicting to their carefree intuitive nature.

Both intuition and intellect reside within Aquarius, who live intensely in their mind, this often leads them to thinking outside the box bringing innovative ideas and possible inventions. This is where the archetype of the scientist comes in. Being unconventional, progressive and idealistic they often pave the way for new ideas and creations to be birthed.

We have within us all twelve of the zodiac signs, just to varying degrees. So when the Sun moves into Aquarius it can activate that part of our chart, bringing energy and light here. If you know your chart I invite you to have a look at what you have in the sign of Aquarius and notice if any of the traits I mention above are arising for you within the planetary archetypes or area of your life. If you don’t know your chart and you want to see what you can learn from Aquarius season simply notice if any of these traits arise in you, in what context and what lessons or insights you could gain from this.

With soul,

Paula
